Matthew R Bechtel, NCARB

Matthew is a licensed architect and one of the founding members of mjrdb architecture.  He brings over 14 years of experience to the table.  He received his architectural education from the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University, where he earned his Bachelor's of Architecture.  As a local architect, he has numerous built works throughout the SWFL area including new construction and renovation of existing facilities of every scope such as commercial office and retail, medical office, higher education, restaurants and hospitality, automotive dealerships, industrial, religious, and residential (single and multifamily).

In February 2014, Matthew formed MJRDB Architecture, LLC with his wife Jennifer to create an architecture firm that provides high quality architecture that is environmentally conscience and achievable within the client's budget.

Matthew is a “virtual native” to Southwest Florida. Moving to LaBelle, FL from Ohio at age five, he has been a part of the LaBelle community ever since excluding his time away to continue his higher education. Even now as a Fort Myers' resident, he and his family maintain involvement in the LaBelle community through the church he attends.

Matthew was first introduced to architecture in the second grade. His teacher's husband, Richard Kramer, a local architect working out of Lehigh Acres, visited the class and showed the students drawings and tools an architect used on a daily basis. He provided the students with paper and asked each one to draw a dream house. He took the students' drawings back to the office and made blueprint copies for each student to keep. Matthew was hooked from that time on and never wavered in his desire to be an architect.

Jennifer Bechtel

Vice President

Project Manager

Jennifer is a project manager and one of the founding members of mjrdb architecture. She received her Bachelor's of Architecture degree from Florida Atlantic University. Since graduating, Jennifer has served multiple roles in the architecture and construction fields as part of a large architectural-engineering firm focusing on K-12 facilities and as vice president at Shar-In Cabinets, Inc. where she oversaw production. Her experience has provided her the opportunity to experience design from the large scale of design and construction of K-12 education facilities to the finite details of cabinetry.

Jennifer's passion for architecture is founded in her belief that every person should have access to high-quality design no matter the income bracket or color of his or her skin. In 2004, Jennifer and Matthew spent time in Hyderabad, India in collaboration with a local ministry to research economically viable solutions to provide affordable housing and communities for the thousands of people who otherwise live in “shantytowns.” Jennifer also believes that good architecture should be as environmentally conscience as possible and continues to look for opportunities to provide Eco-friendly designs for local communities.

We look forward to talking with you about your project.
